Extra: Let’s not forget about hemp. Why was that crop made illegal?
While most documentaries focus on the prohibition of cannabis, this one focusses on the complete ban on hemp production in 1938. It deals with every historical and contemporary aspect of hemp usage and cultivation, and there is a lot to tell on this subject. Hemp fibre is much durable and economical than wood, but hemp can also be used for food products, bio-based fuel and much more. The documentary reveals (or confirms) the probable reason behind hemp prohibition: hemp may prove to be a valid alternative to both oil and wood, and some industries don’t like that.
