Malaria is an infection caused by protozoan organisms of the Plasmodium genus and transmitted by Anopheles mosquito species. Malaria can be fatal, although not all strains of the disease are equally lethal. The disease is said to have killed half of all humans to ever live, and continues to claim over a million lives annually.
The Mayor of Colorado’s capital city Denver, Michael Hancock, is visiting London and Amsterdam during a working visit that started on the 7th of April and will take 5 days. He is visiting the Dutch capital city to get a better view on the coffeeshop model; the cannabis dispensaries of the Netherlands.
In February 2014 the Italian Constitutional Court ruled that a 2006 law, which saw penalties for possession of cannabis triple, was illegitimate. The Italian approach to cannabis is very inconsistent, but in recent years steps towards liberalisation have been taken. In 2013, Italy’s government voted to allow medicinal cannabis.
The French have relatively harsh drug laws compared with neighbouring European countries. However, in recent years attention has been paid to the successful harm reduction policies many of these neighbours are implementing, and various reforms have been made. In January 2014, France legislated to allow medical cannabis.
More than a decade ago, the first Cannabis Social Club (CSC) was founded in the Basque country. Over the last decade, the rest of Spain has followed suit, resulting in an almost nationwide network of CSCs today. As no such network exists in Germany yet, I decided - admittedly also partially motivated by the frosty Berlin climate in January - to visit a few of these clubs myself and take a little look over the shoulder of these cannabis growers.
This year, drought in California has reached hitherto-unseen levels of severity due to almost non-existent winter rainfall; water reserves are currently at around 20% of their normal levels and are anticipated to run dry within months. The drought is now in its second year, and some climatologists believe it is the start of a ‘megadrought’ that could last 200 years or more.
One of the most fundamental effects of a marijuana high is the often reported hyperfocus of attention. This hyperfocus often leads to an intense perception of the here-and-now of existence. Whatever comes into the attentional focus of the high perceiver become not only more intense, but can often be explored in more detail. Time seems to slow down.
In a good relationship, a loving partner can inspire you in many ways. She (or he) may simple inspire you day by day with a beautiful smile, encourage you to write your first music piece, or help you to relax and refresh you energy. She could also help you to discipline yourself, to keep focused on writing a book, drag you to a movie she finds interesting for you to help collecting ideas for a movie project, or she could ask you questions and give you valuable feedback during the creation process of your new advertising campaign. There are many ways a lover can help your creative output.
Algeria is a major transit point for drugs, particularly hashish produced in Morocco and destined for Europe. It is not a major producer or consumer of illicit drugs, although it appears that both production and consumption is on the increase. As well as hashish arriving from Morocco, increasing amounts of cannabis (and cocaine from South America) are trafficked into Algeria from West Africa. The bulk of the contraband leaving Algeria is destined to travel by sea to Europe, although a small proportion is also smuggled overland to Middle Eastern destinations.
There is normal consciousness and there is the marijuana high. And being high is like being a little crazy and retarded. Briefly, this is still the attitude of a mainstream in our society when it comes to the marijuana high. This view is deeply embedded into our modern Western attitude towards altered states of consciousness in general, as the American psychologist Charles Tart pointed out more than 40 years ago.
VIENNA, 11.03.2014 – Encod, the European coalition for just and effective drug policies, is calling on the United Nations to end the drug war, at the 57th session of the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs in Vienna this week. An alternative media center will be set up to show the world how the UN CND responds to the breakthroughs in drug policy in Uruguay and some parts of Europe and the US.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has a long history associated with cannabis use, and large swathes of the population continue to use cannabis in the traditional manner. However, the present regime has been severely clamping down on drug trafficking in recent years, in response to an increase in heroin and opium addiction rates.
Rabies is a disease caused by the virus Lyssavirus rabies, which is capable of infecting all mammal species including humans. Although rabies is not easily transmitted between humans, 60,000 fatalities occur worldwide as a result of rabies each year, the vast majority (97%) caused by bites from infected dogs.
Sickle cell disease (SCD) is a hereditary condition caused by a mutation in the haemoglobin gene, which leads to symptoms of anaemia, extreme pain, and organ damage if unmanaged. Individuals suffering from SCD are far more likely to use cannabis than the general population, potentially for its analgesic properties.
Cannabis extracts are exploding in popularity within the USA’s cannabis community, to the extent that the DEA is seeking to impose a new drug code in the schedule specifically for them. Solvent extraction is not a new method (although techniques have dramatically improved in recent years), and is part of a long history of refining cannabis to its purest form.
Veganic cultivation aims to make nutrients 100% bio-available at all times. This means soil microbes (mainly bacteria and fungi) must be abundant and healthy, so they can process the maximum amount of nutrients from as little added feed as possible, as well as devouring dead root mass from the growing plant. The latter ensures that plants may take up nutrients at full capacity, the former that there are sufficient broken-down nutrients to supply its needs.
Tetanus is an infectious disease, caused by the Clostridium tetani bacterium, which typically occurs following contamination of an open wound. Although tetanus cases worldwide are on the decline due to improved healthcare and vaccination programs, the illness remains a serious problem in many developing nations. Cannabis appears to be a historic treatment for tetanus.
Sensi Seeds had the honour of holding an interview with Robert Connell Clarke - one of the world’s leading experts on the cannabis plant, and author of several highly respected books on the subject. His most recent, co-authored with Mike D. Merlin, is ‘Cannabis: Evolution and Ethnobotany’. This book is the result of over 17 years of research.
We must talk about cannabis and this is what I want to apply the money for. Politics needs to face up to this debate. In the meantime, cannabis is absolutely legally being sold in Colorado. The US federal state Washington and Uruguay as the first nation ever are in the process of implementing corresponding decisions. It shows that different cannabis politics are possible! This is not about belittlement of cannabis, but about an alternative to prohibition. Cannabis prohibition has failed. It is destructive and expensive. We’d like to replace the current black market with a regulated market that involves youth and consumer protection.
