For all these reasons, HempFlax has decided to go further and is currently cultivating over 700 hectares of hemp on their own land in Romania. To perform such an important process, the company has built a new factory. Also, as an added bonus, they not only produce fibre, but also hemp seeds for human consumption, something that they do not yet do in the Netherlands. This is a great advantage since hemp seeds are highly recommended in healthy diets. In fact, hemp seeds have a higher content of essential fatty acids than any other plant source. HempFlax succeeds, with this new venture, in creating one of the largest hemp production centres in Europe. One more step to continue replacing synthetic fibres, that are made from fossil fuels and harmful to the environment, with renewable resources such as hemp fibre.
