Is Germany ready for cannabis legalization?

Public Opinion Germany’s leading organization in the battle for cannabis legalization, Deutscher Hanfverband (DHV), has once again asked German citizens what their opinion on cannabis legalization is: 42% of the interviewees are in favor of it, 51% think that cannabis will be legal in Germany in a few years from now.


Germany’s leading organization in the battle for cannabis legalization, Deutscher Hanfverband (DHV), has once again asked German citizens what their opinion on cannabis legalization is: 42% of the interviewees are in favor of it, 51% think that cannabis will be legal in Germany in a few years from now.

Graphic No. 1 displays the survey results for two statements:

I believe that cannabis will be legal for adults in Germany in a few years: 51% agree, and 47% disagree.

Cannabis should be legal and regulated for adult individuals as it has been  done, for example, in Colorado: 42% agree (12% more than a year ago), and 57% disagree.

Graphic No. 2 shows which of the parties those in favor of cannabis legalization in Germany belong to. 67% The Greens, 56% The Left, 44% Social Democratic Party of Germany,  29% Christian Democratic Union of Germany.

A majority of The Left (65%) and The Greens (64%) partisans think that cannabis will be legalized and regulated in a few years from now. 51% of Social Democrats, and 44% of Christian Democrats agree.
