On Monday the 18th of May 2015 the Texas State House approved SB 339, a bill that could lead to the approval of a medicinal cannabis extract in order to treat patients with intractable seizure conditions. Another important step forward in a short period of time for this American state.

On May 8th, 2015 Sensi Seeds published a news item about the Texas House Committee after it approved two bills that could lead to the decriminalization of cannabis; a great development for this state notorious for its harsh penalties against cannabis offenders. One week later, the situation seems to have panned into an ever better one, with namely, the possible approval of medicinal cannabis oil to treat certain forms of epilepsy.

This cannabis oil will include high levels of cannabidiol (CBD) and only trace elements of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). The bill is designed to treat epilepsy after everything else has failed, giving physicians the opportunity to prescribe the orally-administered cannabis oil.

The bill now lies in Governor Greg Abbott’s hands, who has the power to sign it into effect. If that is confirmed, it will still take up to 3 years before patients are granted safe access to medicinal cannabis.

Sensi Seeds hopes things get swifter, especially since more Texan initiatives seem to be heading towards a green light. However, our team is very happy with these first steps that appear to be good omens when considering the very similar steps taken by other states which now benefit from legal medicinal or even recreational cannabis.
