Tirelessly for Cannabis as Medicine

After Berlin it was Cologne’s turn. Attending the 2nd Kölner Dampfpara.de (Cologne Steam Parade), people were on the streets of the river Rhine’s metropolis last weekend to stick up for cannabis as a medicine. In comparison to the event in Germany’s capital a few weeks back, only a fraction of protesters attended last Saturday, September 7th, but still, the number of participants doubled in comparison to last year. Everyone there campaigned for cannabis as a remedy, known to human kind since centuries.

The event, organised by Cannabis Colonia e.V., was attended by 300 people: patients, activists, experts and others that consider the legalisation of cannabis as an important step. The demonstration, starting at Rudolfsplatz and ending at Heumarkt, was of clear political nature. The demands:

End of stigmatisation and a two-tier medical system. End of complicated bureaucracy. For the right of cannabis consumption for medicinal purposes. For assumption of costs for medicine that contains cannabis and the therapy with cannabis buds.

Education was another important demand: education about different therapeutic possibilities, whereof cannabis is a natural alternative with only little side effects, suitable for numerous clinical pictures.

But without good spirits, music and an AfterDampfParty (After Steam Party) something would be missing at a demonstration for this old, known, therapeutic plant. That’s why quite a few people got together to party and recap following the event.

The organisers were pleased with their 2nd event in Cologne and called for more: “Berlin, Cologne, Munich, Hamm, Frankfurt and everyone else: let’s stick together, because in combined efforts we can end the inhuman prohibition also here in Germany!”
