Gun Smoke Feminized is a 60/40 sativa-dominant hybrid bred by the team at Ziplock Seeds as part of Sensi Seeds’ Breeding Grounds project. Unlike most of Sensi Seeds’ strains, these new Ziplock collaborations were bred outdoors at their breeding compound in Hawaii. Ziplock started with Sensi Seed’s original Jamaican Pearl and crossed it with another hybrid strain that combines Ziplock’s Gas Drop with Deep Space Candy.
These plants are largely well-balanced, and growers should have little trouble fitting them into nearly any setup. However, as a sativa-dominant strain, Gun Smoke Feminized can show some major stretch in the first weeks of flowering and can quickly outgrow shorter spaces if not properly managed. Fortunately, these plants respond well to several advanced growing techniques. Overall, these plants thrive in any light-rich environment, and their durable, hearty nature makes them a great pick for colder climates.
Gun Smoke Feminized cannabis seeds can be expected to grow into somewhat tall plants with above-average internodal spacing and long lateral branches that should form an even canopy about halfway up the plant. Growers who are worried about height may want to flower these plants a week early, as they are likely to stretch significantly in the early weeks of flowering.
When grown indoors, these plants can easily reach heights of 100-160 cm and are capable of generating heavy yields of as much as 400-550 grams per square metre over their somewhat slow 65 to 70-day flowering period. Outdoors, these plants can grow to more than double that height, potentially reaching heights of 300 cm and producing yields in the range of 475-650 grams per plant.
The buds from Gun Smoke Feminized are the conical shape typical of many sativas, but the indica genetics give them a nice, dense firmness. These resin-rich buds boast incredibly dense calyx stacking, a light green hue, pale pistils, and have the potential for some vibrant purple hues. Overall, growers can expect a large number of smallish (but dense) buds with minimal vegetation. Trimming these up isn’t much of a challenge, but it can be rather time-consuming.
As a sativa-dominant hybrid, the long internodal spacing and robust lateral branches of Gun Smoke Feminized plants make them a perfect fit for a screen of green (SCROG) setup. Additionally, their rapid vegetative growth makes mainlining a very tempting prospect. However, these same features make these plants poorly suited for a sea of green (SOG).
While growing, Gun Smoke Feminized cannabis plants typically give off a complex aroma with hints of burgundy wine, fruity, zesty citrus, gassy diesel, and a subtle, earthy musk. This smell is overall quite pleasant, but it is also strong enough to turn heads, which, combined with their size, can make these plants somewhat difficult for growers who value discretion.
After the flowers have been harvested, trimmed, dried, and cured, they take on an equally deep and pungent aroma, boasting a Deep, complex bouquet of fermented grapes and fresh citrus layered on top of a rich OG gas scent. Sampling Gun Smoke Feminized snaps all of those scents into focus with a smooth and full-bodied, gassy inhale followed by sweet burgundy and citrus notes on the exhale with a lasting, earthy aftertaste.
Despite being a sativa-dominant strain, the effects of Gun Smoke Feminized are remarkably well-balanced. Things kick off with a euphoric, uplifting high that is sure to keep your head in the clouds before transitioning into deep physical relaxation and calm that’s sure to keep your feet firmly planted to the ground. This is a great strain for slowly winding up at the end of the day with a final uplifting burst before settling down for the night.
