Bahama Mama Automatic is an 80% indica-dominant strain, but the overall structure resembles an even balance of indica and sativa varieties. In this Breeding Grounds collaboration with Fat Beans, we selected Blue Kush and Lowryder as the parent plants.
These seeds get the automatic trait directly from the Lowryder lineage, and growers can sit back and let the plant initiate flowering independently. The potency, dense bud structure, and tropical flavour of Bahama Mama Automatic are heavily influenced by the unique characteristics of Blue Kush. Bahama Mama Automatic is also feminized, which maximises space efficiency because every plant will be female.
Flowering time for Bahama Mama Automatic is generally 60-65 days. The vegetative period is short; this strain will go from seed to harvest in 80 days. This plant will finish indoors with an average height of 100-120 cm in the right conditions. Growers under the sun could see plants exceeding 120 cm tall. Bahama Mama Automatic has a Christmas tree structure with a single large cola up top. Side branches are abundant with well-spaced nodes. This open structure promotes good airflow around the plant and flowers.

Leckere und robuste Blue Kush
Über den Geschmack der Bahama Mama muss man nicht spekulieren. Sie schmeckt nach Blue Kush und hat auch sonst die typischen Eigenschaften dieser Pflanze: sie ist ausgesprochen robust und produziert sehr wohlschmeckende Buds 😋 Dabei erreicht die Bahama im Vergleich zu anderen Züchtungen tatsächlich einen (zumindest gefühlt) hohen THC-Gehalt und (objektiv) sehr ordentliche Erträge. Die angegebenen Erntemengen sind mit einem soliden Growkonzept und etwas LST auch für den Privatanbauer durchaus erreichbar. Outdoor hatte ich am Ende leider doch Probleme mit Blütenfäule. Indoor gab es auch ohne Luftentfeuchter keine Probleme.
Wer unbedingt HST an einer Automatic ausprobieren möchte, sollte die Bahama Mama in Erwägung ziehen. LST steckt die Pflanze mit einem Achselzucken weg. Auch ein behutsames Entlauben war kein Problem. Eine Pflanze habe halbverbrannt über die Ziellinie gebracht…die hat dann die stärksten und aromatischsten Buds produziert. Allerdings hat dies dann eher 90 Tage gedauert.
Aus meiner Sicht eine klare Empfehlung 👍🏻

Bad Fatherf*****
Ich habe diese Samen für den ersten Grow meines Lebens ausgesucht, weil ich auf der Suche nach einer robusten, maximal mittelgroßen Pflanze war, die gut in meine 0,6 x 1,2 x 1,8 m Growbox oder die Brüstung meiner Süd-Süd-West-Loggia passt und sich ohne übertriebenen Aufwand anbauen lässt. Das Versprechen auf gutaussehende, starke und aromatische Buds hat mich natürlich auch gelockt. Maximale Ertragsmengen standen für mich nicht im Vordergrund.
Nach zehn Wochen und kurz vor der Ernte stehend möchte ich ich hier schon einmal ein positives Zwischenfazit ziehen:
Als Neuling mit einer neu zusammengekauften Ausrüstung habe ich die Pflanzen trotz solider Ausrüstung und sorgfältiger Einarbeitung doch auch immer wieder mal erheblich gestresst. Grundsätzlich hatte ich auch mit Hitze im Innenbereich zu kämpfen und musste den Lichtzyklus schließlich in die Nacht verlegen, um das in den Griff zu bekommen. Trotzdem sind drei von drei Samen gekeimt und in die Blüte gegangen. Nach LST ab der 3. Woche haben sich inzwischen drei leicht unterschiedlich gewachsene 40-60 cm hohe kompakte und dicht mit Blüten besetzte Büsche gebildet. Die Hauptkola neigt dann im Übergang in die Blüte dazu, doch noch einmal auszubrechen. Da muss man indoor aufpassen, das man sich keine Beleuchtungsprobleme einfängt. Ich habe ein Scrog benutzt, fand dies aber bei Pflanzen dieser Größe, die keine Probleme hatten, ihre Buds zu tragen, eher hinderlich. Die Pflanze profitiert sehr davon, wenn man die Zweige weit öffnet und dabei auf einer Höhe hält. Zwei Pflanzen füllen die Growbox schon fast komplett aus (nach oben ist noch Platz).
Die Pflanze auf der Brüstung der Loggia habe ich erfolgreich so trainiert, das sie alle großen Triebe nach vorne zum Licht entwickelt hat (ich kann den Topf nicht immer drehen). Sie hatte im Wachstum in der Growbox gekümmert, weswegen ich sie für den Außenbereich ausgesucht habe. Dort erholte sie sich schnell und entwickelte in der frühen Blütephase ein explosives Wachstum (Höhe verdrei-, Volumen verhundertfacht).
Deswegen halte ich schonmal fest, dass die Bahama Mama auch ein Bad, bad Fatherf***** ist, die echte Nehmerqualitäten hat.
Bevor ich Aussagen über den Ertrag und die Qualität der Blüten machen kann, wird noch etwas Zeit vergehen. Es sieht aber bisher recht ordentlich aus, ganz besonders, da dies ja der erste Grow meines Lebens ist und nicht gleich alles rund lief. Funktioniert indoor wie outdoor sehr gut 👍🏻
