Purple Pickle Automatic is a 60/40 indica-dominant hybrid created by Sensi Seeds Research. This blend was created by crossing Sour Diesel with Granddaddy Purple (a strain which includes Skunk and Afghan genetics) to form a well-balanced autoflowering strain ideal for indoor growers short on space.

This strain is incredibly compact making it a good fit for nearly any indoor space. However, its powerful odour may require extra caution for growers who value their privacy. Additionally, as an autoflowering strain, these plants are not particularly versatile meaning that they aren’t a good fit for many advanced growing techniques.

Growth pattern of Purple Pickle Automatic

Purple Pickle Automatic cannabis seeds grow into incredibly compact plants with tight internodal spacing and dense vegetation. Overall, these plants are short, stocky, and robust with tightly packed, though relatively short, lateral branching, a dense cola at the top of the main stem, and healthy buds at the tops of each branch.

When grown indoors, Purple Pickle Automatic plants typically finish flowering at heights of 25-80 cm and can produce high yields of 250-325 grams per square metre. Even if placed under natural sunlight, these plants are unlikely to grow taller than 100 cm. Outdoors, expect harvests of 150-250 grams per plant over the strain’s 60 to 65-day flowering period.

The buds from these plants are chunky and drenched in resin with striking purple hues and a glistening layer of trichomes. Under certain growing conditions, the purple colour (a trait passed down by the Granddaddy Purple parent) becomes the real star of the show and gives this strain its name. The buds are quite leafy which, combined with the tremendous amount of sticky resin, make these plants somewhat difficult to trim.

As an extremely compact autoflowering strain, Purple Pickle Automatic is poorly suited for many advanced growing techniques. Its slow growth in the vegetative stage makes it incompatible with lollipopping or supercropping. Likewise, as with any autoflower, techniques like mainlining or a screen of green (SCROG) setup are not ideal. However, thanks to this strain’s short stature, growers could find success using it in a sea of green (SOG) grow.

While growing, Purple Pickle Automatic gives off a pungent odour with diesel overtones and sweet grape and berry aromas. As the plant reaches maturity, this smell can become extremely powerful and growers who value their privacy will need to take extra steps to control the powerful odour.

Once the buds have finished curing, the smell mellows slightly but is still a potent blend of sour fuel, ripe berries, and earthy sweetness alongside more subtle hints of citrus and herbs. The flavour is equally powerful with bursts of tangy diesel and sour citrus hitting hard on the inhale, while sweet grape and berry notes dominate the back end.
