Feminized Mix 101

Did you know that Sensi Seeds created Special Mixes of its best cannabis seeds?

Last year, our special edition of the Strain Focus series was focused on the much appreciated, much praised Indoor Mix. This time, we want you to give some love to our Feminized Mix.

This mix of exclusively feminized cannabis seeds will allow you to plan and organize your grow space as you see fit: no removing of male plants, no frustrating waiting period before you know how many plants will make it to harvest time!

Depending on the size of your grow space, you can opt for a pack of 5 or 10 feminized seeds.

Chance makes the selection for you

If this is your first experience cultivating cannabis indoors, you may not have a defined idea of what your grow space should look like. This can make the selection process for this season’s crops a bit of a challenge.

But even experienced cannabis growers sometimes want to get surprised by their harvests. Variety is the spice of life, we hear! This is why Sensi Seeds created the Feminized Mix.

Our Feminized Mix contains 5 or 10 seeds from the Sensi Seeds selection. These seeds are picked randomly from our 11 feminized cannabis strains and thrown into a pack of affordable, high quality cannabis goodness.

If you are an aficionado of Sensi Seeds genetics, it is a great way to experience with a wide variety of effects, flavours and aromas from a single harvest, whilst being able to rely on stable growth patterns, thriving plants and delicious, potent buds.

It will also allow you to explore our selection without having to invest in multiple packs.

Not that we are against it; if you’d rather choose your one(s) and only(s) yourself, check out all our feminized seeds. And while you’re there, do take a look at the “Cup” icon adorning most of the products of this category.

Numerous of our feminized strains have been awarded at various Cannabis Cup events for their performance and effect – and all of them may well be in your own Feminized Mix!

Play “spot the strain” with us

How long will it take you to put a name on each of your plants once they have started flowering? You’ll only know if you try.

Indica and sativa strains are easily identifiable thanks to the visible difference in leaf structure, growth pattern, and bud formation. From there … it’s up to you!

You can make a tour of our FAQ, read the strain descriptions we have lovingly, thoroughly crafted for you, or quiz your favourite cannabis connoisseur friend. One thing is sure: no harvest will be more exciting!

A few words from our growers:

  1. Hello to the Masters (/Mistresses?) of cannabis,

The one thing that has always kept me from purchasing a 20-pack (or more than one) of your “mixed” products is that I would REALLY hate to do so and not receive one of every strain that is a source for said products. And I see no mention of any kind of guarantee that a person won’t receive a second – or third, or… – of the same strain before he/she has received one of every strain (up to the limit defined by the number of seeds in the pack, of course).

If there was any way to do this thing, I would expect that you would have a significantly higher number of sales of your mixed pack products. I know that it is child’s play to write a (pseudo-)random number generator on a computer that will pick as many numbers from a set as you like without ever picking a repeat. But I do not know of an easy way to do it in regards to selecting n seeds from 11 (strain) choices. Unfortunately.

Also, I wanted to respectfully suggest that your inference that these mix packs are suitable for “newbie” growers (“If this is your first experience cultivating cannabis indoors…”) might not be true. Much of what determines whether or not a first-time cannabis grower ever becomes a repeat grower hinges on his/her initial experience, yes? So… Do you really feel that it is wise for such a grower to (attempt to successfully) do a grow using seeds that may be some combination of ELEVEN different strains – many of which probably have multiple phenotypes – that he/she has absolutely no way of knowing, initially, which is which? Consider what happens when even an experienced grower grows multiple strains THAT ARE KNOWN, together, in a confined space – all of which may have at least slightly different nutritional requirements, grow at different rates, have different flowering period lengths, have different rates of growth during the stretch (first 40% of the flowering period) phase, et cetera. Have you got that mental image well in hand, lol? Good. Now please replace “experienced grower” with “first time grower” and repeat this mental exercise.

Although I have been a user and grower of cannabis since the 1980s, I have never worked in a cannabis-related retail business. But I have (of course) worked. And it has been my repeated experience that a customer’s first time experience with a business entity can determine whether that entity has a customer for life – or a customer no longer. And I am quite fond of both your strains and all the work that Ben (et al) have done for the world, through the years. That was my motivation for this message, as much as my concern for new growers was.

    Best regards,
    Fred

      Hi Fred,

Thank you for your feedback. The reason that there is no guarentee of getting at least one seed from each of our feminized varieties is that the selection of seeds is, as you have guessed, completely random. Additionally, as sativa strains tend to give slightly fewer seeds on average than indica strains, there is a slightly higher chance of more indica varieties being in the mix, because that’s what we are working with to select from.

The other sentence that you highlight is not actually recommending this mix for inexperienced growers, it’s meant to imply that inexperienced growers are more likely to not be sure what to expect. Experienced growers who decide that they do want to be surprised are the ones most likely to benefit from the random selection of strains in this mix: “…even experienced cannabis growers sometimes want to get surprised by their harvests. Variety is the spice of life, we hear! This is why Sensi Seeds created the Feminized Mix.” Your comments about the problems that inexperienced growers might encounter from a mix of seeds are completely correct, which is why we usually recommend something affordable and homogenous like the Sensi Skunk for new gardeners.

I hope this allays your concerns and that you continue to enjoy our blog, and continue to contribute – we value your feedback!

      With best wishes,

      Scarlet
