High Times and Sensi Seeds have been part of each other's story since even before the first Cannabis Cup in 1988. Now, when High Times decided to release genetics for the first time in their 50-year history, they chose Sensi Seeds. These five strains are the result.
In 1988, High Times organised the first Cannabis Cup in Amsterdam. Sensi Seeds entered, and Northern Lights #5 x Skunk #1 took first prize in the indica category - a strain later renamed Shiva Skunk. Several more Cup wins followed in the years after.
High Times has been documenting and championing cannabis culture since 1974. In that time, they've covered more strains, competitions, and breeders than arguably any other publication, without ever releasing genetics of their own. These five strains are the first.
Both organisations have been through a lot since then. The cannabis landscape of 2026 looks nothing like 1988, and staying relevant across that stretch takes more than a good reputation.
Josh Kesselman, founder of Raw Rolling Papers and co-owner of High Times alongside Matt Stang, speaks to what drew them to Sensi Seeds for this first release:
"I purchased High Times because I believe in what it represents; decades of cannabis culture that means a LOT to a LOT of us, including me! When we decided to release our first genetics, there was only one name that made sense. Sensi Seeds have been winning Cannabis Cups since the very first one, and they've been doing this longer than anyone else. Forty years in, they're still the ones to beat. Having them breed the High Times collection is exactly the statement we wanted to make."
Matt Stang adds: "I brought the Cannabis Cup to the United States in 2010, which means I've been in rooms with Sensi Seeds for most of my career. When High Times decided to release genetics for the first time in our fifty-year history, the partner question wasn't really a question. These five strains are what comes out of a relationship that started at a Cup and never stopped."
Ice Cheeks, Blue Flame, Sour Durban, Doughnut Glaze, and Zangria were developed as a joint breeding project, where names, genetics, and direction were decided together. We phenohunted and stabilised until we were satisfied, and we’re proud to present what this has resulted in.
This range of feminized strains mixes US and Dutch genetics and spans both sativa and indica-dominant profiles. Each strain page covers the genetics, growth behaviour, and effects in full. Discover them today!
