How to make Hempseed Banana Bread

This tasty, super easy cake recipe impresses everyone and only takes about 10 minutes to mix up. The hard part is waiting for it to cool down when it comes out of the oven!

Tools & ingredients

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Fork
  • Greased loaf tin
  • Oven
  • 4 ripe bananas
  • 1 cup of raw brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • 1 egg
  • 1½ cups self-raising flour
  • ¾ cup of hulled whole or ground hempseed
  • ¼ cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla essence
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon powdered ginger
  • Optional: ½ cup of one of the following: raisins, dried cranberries, chocolate chips, chopped nuts


Pre- heat the oven to 180 degrees Centigrade (350 degrees Fahrenheit). Put the bananas into a large mixing bowl and mash them thoroughly with a fork. Add all the other ingredients and mix well. Pour the mixture into a greased loaf tin and bake for about an hour, until the top is golden-brown and a skewer inserted into the middle of the cake comes out clean.
