What you’ll find on GrowDiaries:
As of 2020, GrowDiaries had around 30,000 registered users and receives about 1.4 million monthly visits. Best of all, it’s completely free to use (see below to learn how to sign up).
Once signed up to GrowDiaries, you’ll be able to view published photo and video diaries from all users in full detail (diaries are only partially visible to unregistered visitors). These journals are broken down into weekly segments and can be as detailed as a user wants them to be, describing what training techniques and fertilisers they used, the conditions in their garden, and more.
Some growers choose to accompany their pictures and videos with written reports describing their operation in even more detail. Other users can also comment on these journals to ask questions or request more insight into a specific aspect of the grow.
Of course, the detail and quality of grow journals on GrowDiaries varies. Some are extremely detailed, featuring plenty of photos and videos as well as write-ups that outline every minuscule detail of a grow. Others are less detailed, but GrowDiaries tries to mitigate this through ranking users based on the amounts of likes their grows generate – at least in theory, the best diaries should generate the greatest number of likes.
But the benefits of GrowDiaries doesn’t just extend to growers. At Sensi Seeds, we love using the platform to interact with our community of growers and see our strains in action.
While we often receive pictures from growers via social media and our customer service channels, GrowDiaries takes things to another level, giving us a detailed glimpse into the life of our strains in different gardens from across the world.
Seeing real-life growers adapt our unique cultivars to their local growing conditions and sharing their experiences with the rest of the community is a true inspiration for the entire team at Sensi Seeds! Below are just a few examples of some prime journals we love:
Sensi Amnesia XXL by love_2_grow
In their review of Sensi Amnesia XXL (a 70% sativa auto descending from Amnesia and Ruderalis), love_2_grow went all out to detail not only the weekly progress of the plants but also the conditions in their tent (including relative humidity, temperatures, and more). Moreover, love_2_grow grew their plants in living soil – an organic technique that I highly recommend exploring.
Day by day – Sensi Seeds/White Label by SmokingTiki
SmokingTiki reviewed several strains in this diary, including Mandarin Punch Auto, Honey Melon Haze, OG Kush, and Jamaican Pearl. Three things stand out from this journal: Firstly, SmokingTiki used a fairly simple setup, which I like because it’s always nice to see growers prove that growing great weed at home doesn’t have to be rocket science or cost a fortune.
Secondly, they did a great job at growing feminized and autoflowering plants together in the same room under a single light. Finally, they also detailed their use of LST and Topping really well and in a way that’s easy to interpret even for beginner growers.
Silver Haze by TOTEM
Silver Haze is arguably one of the biggest names in our seed catalogue, and for plenty of good reasons. Unfortunately, growing this towering, long-flowering sativa isn’t for everybody. TOTEM, however, did an amazing job growing this cup-winning sativa queen and they did it using SCROG in a 1m tent! Check out this diary for insight into a really challenging grow that paid off immensely!

The benefits of GrowDiaries for cannabis growers
As a grower and experienced cannabis journalist, I can attest to the value of being a GrowDiaries user myself. Whether I am researching strains or breeders for a client, looking for a new seed to try in my garden, or in need of specific information on technical topics like fertiliser use or training techniques, GrowDiaries is always at the top of my research list.
While I haven’t published any diaries on the site myself, I am a big promoter of keeping grow journals. First and foremost, the process of photographing or filming our plants can be super enjoyable and a great excuse to spend more time in the garden – something that I consider a luxury in this digital age!
Moreover, the process of keeping a journal automatically obligates us to constantly reflect on our growing process. By keeping a grow diary, you’ll force yourself to track things like when and how you feed/water your plants; at what week you train them using Topping or LST, and the temperatures/humidity in your space week after week. Over time, you might pick up on aspects of your growing process that work really well, as well as others that could be improved.
Finally, if you’re already making the effort to track your grow, why not share your experience with others? Who knows, you might just learn something or even inspire another grower to try an aspect of your grow that they never adopted themselves!
If there’s one thing that I think rings true for all weed growers, it’s this – you never stop learning. I can personally attest to the fact that not a day goes by where I’m not learning something new about the cannabis plant, its effects, and how to grow it more effectively.
By bringing weed growers together through a user-friendly, information driven platform, GrowDiaries is an invaluable tool to add to your grower’s toolkit.
