This time around, we’re exploring our time with Silf Truffle Feminized, a 50/50 hybrid bred from a complex blend of Pluto, Ropeium, and Cosmic Kiss. These somewhat short, highly productive plants are the perfect choice for growers looking to try something a little different, thanks to their extremely robust lateral branches and overall balanced growth.

Silk Truffle Feminized is a 50/50 hybrid developed in collaboration with Champelli for the Sensi Seeds Breeding Grounds 2026 catalogue. This well-balanced strain started with a cross of Champelli’s Ropeium with Pluto, which was further refined by crossing it with Sensi Seeds’ Cosmic Kiss, resulting in a strain with a complex and varied lineage, including all-time classics such as The Original Z, GSC, Gelato, and more.
We grew our Silk Truffle Feminized cannabis plant in an 8-litre plastic pot filled with BAC Lava mix and kept it under a 1000 W lamp set to an 18/6 light schedule. We kept our grow space at a stable 23°C during the daytime, letting the space cool down slightly to 21°C at night. During vegetation, we maintained a relative humidity of 65% before gradually lowering it as the plant developed.
Germination & seedling
As always, the first step is to germinate our seed. Simply fold up a few paper towels and dampen them with just enough water so they are damp but not soaked. Next, put any seeds on top of the paper towels and cover them with another dampened paper towel. Lastly, put the setup into an open plastic bag, and set it somewhere warm out of direct sunlight.
After about a day, our seed had split open, and a thin white taproot was sticking out, indicating that it was time to plant. We placed our seed (taproot down) into a pre-soaked Rockwool cube, which we then set under a 600 W lamp and left alone for a few days.
After three days, our seedling sprouted, and it was time for its first feeding. At this early stage, plants are incredibly fragile, and it’s best to avoid giving them any nutrients. We began daily waterings with 100 ml of pH-balanced water (pH 6.0; EC 0.8) with a small amount of rooting hormone. After one week, our seedling was 5 cm tall with multiple leaves and a slight lean that required some early support.
Vegetation
Over week two, our Silk Truffle Feminized plant’s roots were growing out of the Rockwool cube, meaning that it was time to move our plant to its new home: an 8-litre plastic pot filled with BAC Lava Mix. By the end of the week, our plant had doubled in height to 10 cm with fairly significant internodal stretch. We were also seeing the first signs of lateral branches at the lowest inner nodes.
Week three saw another round of consistent growth with the plant growing to 15 cm and developing a single set of new leaves with internodal spacing that was stretching rapidly. We still weren’t seeing any further development of lateral branches, but we expected rapid growth in the coming week, so we increased the water volume to 400 ml per day.
Lastly, during this week, we hung small satchels of Neoseiulus californicus and Amblyseius swirskii from the lower branches. Each of these packages contains hundreds of tiny predatory mites that feed on parasites like thrips and spider mites without harming the plant. These are replaced every four weeks to ensure a fresh supply.

Flowering
At the start of week four, it was time to start flowering our plant by switching our lights to a 12/12 schedule. At this point, we also began feeding our plants with 800 ml of pH-balanced water (pH 6.0; EC 1.8) mixed with Bio Flower liquid nutrients per day. Lastly, we reduced the humidity to 60% to help prevent mould. By the end of the week, our plant was standing 21 cm tall, as it showed considerable stretch, and we were already seeing the first signs of lateral branches.
In week five, our plant went through its first round of major growth, gaining 14 cm to hit 35 cm tall. Much of this growth came from new vegetation at the top of the main stem with only minor stretch. At the same time, the lateral branches were beginning to grow outwards, though they were still quite short. Overall, the plant had a somewhat compact, though rapidly expanding frame. With more growth expected in the coming weeks, we increased daily feedings to 1000 ml.
Over the course of week six, our Silk Truffle Feminized cannabis plant had another week of explosive growth, growing another 11 cm to finish the week standing 46 cm tall. The bulk of this growth was stretch along the main stem, though we also saw some new growth up top. The lateral branches more than doubled in length, growing outwards at 45°. With flowering expected any day now, we upped our feedings to 1500 ml per day.
Week seven saw our plant’s largest growth spurt as it shot up 15 cm to reach 61 cm tall. This growth was spurred almost entirely by stretch in the lower stem and was accompanied by extreme growth of the lateral branches. These were now growing quite a bit outwards, making the plant nearly as wide as it was tall and giving it an open, airy frame. By now, we were seeing the very first signs of flowering with small white pistils appearing at the tops of branches.
In week eight, our plant’s vertical growth nearly stopped, as it only gained 6 cm, finishing the week at a height of 67 cm as the main stem rose above the lower canopy. While the plant’s upward momentum was coming to a stop, the first pre-flowering clusters were making an appearance, filling in at every flowering site.
Week nine saw our Silk Truffle Feminized cannabis plant’s final round of growth, as it hit 75 cm. Nearly all of that growth was at the top of the plant, as the main stem continued to rise above the canopy. By now, the lateral branches had also stopped growing and were covered in rapidly developing buds. With flowering in full swing, we lowered the humidity to 55%.
Over week ten, our plant reached a height of 78 cm as vertical growth slowed further. By now, the tops of each branch were supporting clearly defined buds, and the main stem was standing well above the lower canopy with the main cola growing in nicely. Some of the lower branches were being weighed down considerably by their ever-growing buds.
Through week eleven, our plant grew slightly to a height of 83 cm, with almost all of that coming from stretch in the upper stem, as it continued to climb above the lower canopy. By now, every flowering site was sporting a dense, conical bud with fairly thick leaf coverage. The main cola was continuing to grow in nicely, and there was nothing left to do but wait.
Weeks twelve and thirteen saw our plant grow to 87 cm tall as buds continued to grow denser with each passing day. We were seeing the white pistils gradually turn orange, indicating that harvest was nearly at hand.
In week fourteen, we harvested our Silk Truffle Feminized cannabis plant.
Harvest
Once our Silk Truffle Feminized cannabis plant was ready for harvest, we immediately cut it down at the base, removed all of the large fan leaves, and hung it upside-down to dry in our drying room. This space is kept at a consistent 15.5°C with a relative humidity of 50%, and our plant was left hanging here until the smallest branches were dry enough to snap when bent; typically, 10-20 days.
Once our plant was dry, it was time to trim the flowers from the stems, remove the remaining leaves, and put the buds into glass jars for curing. These buds were extremely leafy, and the plant produced a large number of golfball-sized flowers, which made trimming a lengthy chore. Once the buds were trimmed up, we left the jars open for the first 24 hours to give the bulk of the moisture a chance to evaporate.
After a day, we sealed the jars and then “burped” them for an hour at a time, multiple times per day. Over the next several weeks, we gradually reduced the burping frequency to once a day. On average, this entire process takes 4-6 weeks to complete and can’t be rushed, as proper curing is key to a smooth flavour.
Once everything was properly cured, we ended up with an impressive 93 grams of dried flower with a THC content of 23%.

As our Silk Truffle Feminized cannabis plants began flowering, we began noticing a rather sweet aroma characterised by notes of cosmic candy, sharp, gassy diesel, and faint earthy tones that all melted together into an especially appetising scent. While the smell itself never became overpowering, the plants’ large, resinous flowers definitely give off a noticeable and unmistakable aroma, which may be a challenge for growers who desire privacy.
After curing, the buds’ aroma took on a fruitier, sherbet-forward profile, with clear notes of tropical candy layered on top of a more subtle hint of fuel in the background. Those same elements were all present in the flavour, and we noticed a sweet and tangy inhale defined by fruity candy notes. This gradually transitioned into a smooth, creamy flavour, before settling into a lingering finish defined by earthy, gassy tones, creating a familiar yet varied flavour, sure to appeal to anyone.
We found the effects of Silk Truffle Feminized to be just as balanced as its aroma and flavour. Things started off with a strong cerebral uplift that was euphoric, upbeat, and got the creative flow going. Over time, that energetic buzz softened into a gentle, full-body relaxation that still left us functional rather than sedated, making this strain a top pick for use during either the day or the evening, in social settings, or during activities that require a clear head.
