In this report, we’ll detail our time with Rainbow PlushieZ Feminized, a 55% indica. This strain’s short size is unusual compared to its long, thin branches, but that combination allows for impressive yields. These plants are incredibly versatile, responding well to most growing techniques, making them a solid pick for anyone looking to try something new.

Rainbow PlushieZ Feminized is a 55% indica bred by Champelli for the Sensi Seeds Breeding Grounds’ 2026 catalogue. Breeders started with Sensi Seeds’ original Chocolate Rainbow XXL (a mix of GMO & Gelato #41), and blended that with another Breeding Grounds strain, LA Sugar (Hash Plant & Wedding Cake).
As always, we kept our Rainbow PlushieZ Feminized cannabis plant in an 8-litre plastic pot filled with BAC Lava mix, beneath a 1000 W lamp set to an 18-hours-on-6-hours-off light schedule. We kept our grow space at a constant 23°C during the daytime, with nighttime temperatures dropping slightly to 21°C. During early vegetation, we maintained a relative humidity of 65% before gradually lowering it as the plant developed.
Germination & seedling
Before anything else, we first needed to germinate our seed. To do so, we simply folded up a few paper towels, placed them onto a plate, and sprinkled them with just enough water to make them damp but not dripping wet. Next, we placed our seeds on top and covered them with another damp paper towel, before placing all of this inside an open plastic bag and leaving it in a warm place out of direct sunlight.
After about a day, our seed had cracked open, and the thin, white taproot was sticking out about a centimetre. We then planted the seed (taproot pointing down) into a pre-soaked Rockwool cube and put that underneath a 600W lamp.
This early, it’s best not to give seedlings any extra water or nutrients as they are extremely fragile at this stage. After three days, we gave our plant its first feeding with 100 ml of pH-balanced water (pH 6.2; EC 0.8) mixed with a dose of rooting hormone. At the end of week one, our seedling was 6 cm tall with multiple sets of true leaves.
Vegetation
Over week two, our Rainbow PlushieZ Feminized plant doubled in height to 12 cm tall and had grown another set of leaves with somewhat long internodal spacing. With the roots now sticking out of the bottom of the Rockwool cube, we moved our young plant into an 8-litre plastic pot and put it under our 1000W lamp. Expecting more rapid growth next week, we doubled the volume of water to 200 ml every day.
In week three, growth slowed slightly, with our plant gaining 4 cm to finish at a height of 16 cm. This week also saw the growth of another set of leaves along rapidly growing internodal spacing, giving the plant a fairly open, airy frame, and we were also seeing the first signs of lateral branches. Since we were about to switch to flowering, we increased the volume of water to 400 ml per day.
Before switching to flowering, we hung a small satchel of Neoseiulus californicus and Amblyseius swirskii from the plant. These packets contain hundreds of little critters that have a symbiotic relationship with cannabis plants, meaning that they won’t do your plants any harm. Instead, these tiny helpers will hunt down and eat pests like spider mites and thrips before they can cause any damage. These are replaced every four weeks to ensure a fresh supply.

Flowering
At the start of week four, we flipped our plant to flowering by switching our lights to a 12-hour-on-12-hour-off schedule. We also began daily waterings with 800 ml of pH-balanced water (pH 6.0; EC 1.8) mixed with Bio Flower liquid nutrients, and reduced the relative humidity to 60% to help combat mould. By the end of the week, our plant had reached a height of 22 cm, with significant stretch of the main stem.
Week five saw one of our plant’s largest growth spurts, as it grew 13 cm to finish the week standing 35 cm tall. This growth was split between internodal stretch and new leaves on the main stem. Additionally, this week saw the first major growth of the lateral branches, which were rapidly growing more outwards than upwards. The plant was fairly bushy, overall, and was gradually taking on a Christmas tree shape. With more growth on the way, we increased our daily feedings to 1000 ml.
In week six, our plant grew another 12 cm, finishing the week at 47 cm. Most of this height came from new vertical growth at the top of the plant, combined with mild stretch lower down. This week also saw significant development of the lateral branches, which more than doubled in length. The plant was still relatively compact, though it was beginning to take on a somewhat wide footprint as the lateral branches continued to grow outwards. With flowering set to begin shortly, we increased daily feedings to 1500 ml. This would remain unchanged for the rest of the grow.
Over week seven, our plant kept its strong and steady growth, gaining yet another 12 cm to reach 59 cm tall. By now, our plant was growing into its final form with the main stem rising above the lower canopy while lateral branches continued to lengthen. By the end of the week, the plant had a rather open, airy frame, though the lower section was still somewhat bushy. Overall, the plant was rapidly growing wider than taller.
Week eight saw vertical growth begin to slow, as our plant gained only 9 cm to finish at a height of 68 cm. This vertical growth, though, was offset by the lateral branches’ explosive growth, giving the plant an especially sativa-like structure. This outward growth made the plant extremely wide, with long internodal spacing. The very first pre-flowering clusters were now visible at the tips of each branch and the top of the plant.
In week nine, our Rainbow PlushieZ Feminized cannabis plant grew to 73 cm tall as vertical growth slowed considerably. Most of this new growth came from stretch as the entire plant grew upwards and outwards. The lateral branches continued to grow rapidly, with the lowest branches growing outwards at nearly 90°. From top to bottom, flowering sites continued to develop. Lastly, to reduce the risks of mould, we lowered the humidity to 55%.
Over week ten, our plant reached a height of 76 cm as vertical growth came to a standstill. This slowdown signalled that flower development was about to explode, and the tops of each branch were now supporting small but clearly defined buds. The overall structure remained extremely wide, as the lateral branches continued their outward growth.
Week eleven saw our plant grow another 3 cm to finish the week at 79 cm tall. By now, vertical growth had nearly stopped, with most of the plant’s energy shifting to flower production. The main stem was now standing well above the lower canopy, while the lateral branches finally stopped reaching outwards, but many were being pulled down past 45° by the weight of the buds. Across the plant, flowers were becoming larger, though they were still somewhat airy.
In weeks twelve and thirteen, our plant reached its maximum height of 85 cm. Over these two weeks, growth was almost entirely focused on bud development as the flowers grew larger and denser with each passing day. The main cola was now fully formed, running the upper quarter of the plant. By now, many of the pistils had changed from white to orange, and harvest was nearly at hand.
In week fourteen, we harvested our Rainbow PlushieZ Feminized cannabis plant.
Harvest
Once our Rainbow PlushieZ Feminized cannabis plant was ready for harvest, we cut it down at the base, removed the large fan leaves, and hung it upside-down to dry. Our drying room is kept at a consistent 15.5°C with a relative humidity of 50%, and we left the plant hanging like this until the lower branches were dry enough to snap when bent. On average, this process takes 10-20 days.
Once the plant had dried, we cut off the flowers and trimmed away the remaining leaves. These buds were somewhat large, rather leafy, and quite resinous, which all made trimming a time-consuming chore. Once cleaned up, the buds were put into glass jars for curing and left open for the first 24 hours to allow a majority of any remaining moisture to evaporate.
After the first day, we sealed the jars and then “burped” them multiple times a day for around an hour each. Gradually, we reduced this frequency to only once per day for only a few minutes. Proper curing is the unsung hero of a smooth flavour, and can’t be rushed, so be sure to schedule 4-6 weeks to complete the whole process.
Once everything was dried and cured, we ended up with 91 grams of dried flower with a THC content of 21.4%.

As harvest grew nearer, our Rainbow PlushieZ Feminized plant began developing a notably sweet aroma, led by clear notes of rich chocolate and sugary candy layered on top of softer, earthy undertones. The fragrance gradually intensified as the plant matured, but never became overwhelming, making this strain a reasonable choice for growers who prefer to keep things discreet.
Once the buds had been dried, the aroma deepened and shifted towards a rich dessert-like sweetness, with distinct notes of chocolate supported by more subtle hints of fresh berries and just a touch of earthy Kush beneath the surface. The flavour is exactly what one would expect from the aroma: bold chocolate notes on the inhale, sweeter candy-like tones in the middle, and a smooth, creamy exhale to wrap thing sup, leaving behind a faint trace of lingering spice.
Sampling Rainbow PlushieZ Feminized kicked off with a strong cerebral uplift that was cheerful, giggly, and utterly euphoric. That lively surge of creative energy gradually gave way to a deep, soothing indica-style body buzz that left us feeling remarkably clear-headed without pinning us to the couch. Overall, the high was exceptionally smooth and carried on for quite some time, making this strain well-suited for unwinding after dinner or relaxed creativity.

The outcome
Rainbow PlushieZ Feminized was a real treat to grow. Short, sativa-like plants with XXL yields and an uplifting high aren’t the most common combination, but this strain has them all in spades.
